And then there was a good day

The stats: 13.1 miles in 84 minutes

The story: I was going to do a 2-mile swim, but I knew Saturday was a Yoga day and I love swimming after Yoga. So I decided to hit the treadmill again. After Wednesday’s battle with my stomach, I was a little leary of attempting another PR, so I told myself I would take it easy. I set it to 8.9 (6:45 miles) and started cruising. After 5 minutes, I could tell it was going to be a good day. I cranked it up to 9.3 and continued to cruise. I really felt like I was in a groove today, like our marathon only better. I left it at 9.3 until I had 2 miles left, then started to kick it up .2 every 1/4 mile. That worked out well for me, because things didn’t get really tough until there was less than a mile left and at that point, I could just grit my teeth and bear it until the end. This run was sooo much easier than my last run. It’s just one of those things, today everything just felt right and my body responded to everything I asked it to do. I wish I could bottle it and unleash it whenever I need it most, but I guess it doesn’t work that way.

  1. Nice. I’m dressed and just about to hit the race route again. Hopefully I can knock 30 seconds off of that 32:30…

    • Dammit, looking at my race map I realize I took a short cut last time…
